Biography

After an education is racing via Patrick Chamings, Hughie Morrison and Gabriel Marie “Gai” Waterhouse, Hugo Palmer took out a license to train in 2011. Based at Kremlin Cottage Stables in Newmarket Palmer hit the ground running, with early success even though he only had 11 horses in training at the time. The win came at Brighton via Steady The Buffs and it bouyed the trainer on. Two listed wins from Making Eyes followed as did group winners, , Aktabantay (in the Solario Stakes at Goodwood) and New Providence.

In 2015 further strides were made, this time in the form of a Classic win, Galileo Gold in the 2000 Guineas. The horse then went on to win at Royal Ascot. Total prize money for that season topped £2 million, showing that he’s a force to be reckoned with, despite still being relatively new to his horse trainer role.
